Dear Peruvian blogger,I study spanish at school. i love spanish culture. I would like to visit Spanish speaking countries some day. I love how cheerful latinos are. u may think it's a silly question but i'd like to know if latinos are into asian girls. i find latinos very attractive. will they like me if i go there?

Wow, THAT's a hell of a question because I used to be crazy for Asian girls myself -and still would be if I wasn't married to a wonderful woman who, by the way, has some Japanese blood herself. So, dear anonymous Japanese girl, in short, the answer is... HELL YES!

But let me expand this idea because there're loads of interesting fact about Latino-Asian relationships, and particularly PERUVIAN-Asian relationships. And maybe the most important one is that over 2 MILLION Peruvians are of Chinese descent. 1 MILLION are of Japanese descent. If we add all the interracial couples and the crazy race cocktail shaking going on here, I can tell you for sure that you'll see so many Asians around in Peru that you'll feel home! In Peru we all have had Asian classmates, have Asian workmates, have Asian-like food EVERY single day... And hell! We used to have a Japanese president! (Actually he's a natural born Peruvian registered as Japanese by his 100% Japanese parents.)

Now when it comes to culture, I'm afraid we are miles away. Latinos are usually very different from Asians when it comes to manners, traditions, and socializing. But I know Asian and Latino are quite inaccurate words to help you understand our idiosyncrasy. So I'll use Japanese and Peruvian, which come handy now.
Just a curious fact about Peruvians' crazy concept of Asians. This might sound offensive for the overly politically correct Japanese, but you'll be called here Chinese. Whether you're coming from Japan, South Korea (or North Korea if you can make your way out!), Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam or Cambodia, you are Chinese to us. At school, all of our Asian -and Asian-looking- classmates had the same nickname- Chino. Or course, it's NOT derogatory, just inaccurate. And bear this in mind- it's been proven that anyone who's not in a continuous, deep contact with other ethnic groups, will tend to see all these people the same. You'll hear things like 'All Chines look the same.' And it's not meant to be offensive. It's just that although we have so much Asian blood in us, we're still miles away from actual Asia, and most people are mixed enough to be called just Latinos (and certainly, if you make your way to Peru, I bet the ranch you'll find that we all look the same to you.

I can make a difference because I've been working as a Spanish teacher for years, so not only can I tell who is Japanese, South Korean or Chinese by their looks, but also by their accents, and even by the way they dress! And of course I know that South Eastern Asians look A LOT different from their Far Eastern neighbors, not to mention the enormous cultural gap between them. Most Peruvians are not like that. They'll identify just as a nice China girl and chances are that you'll be asked out on your very first day here.
In case you didn't notice, I'm pretty mixed myself. Look at my pic. One of my eyes is wide open / blue while the other is slanted and black. Not to speak about my hair. Or my nose. (Forget it.)
